Kidnapped syndicate who specializes in abducting foreigners have being arrested by operatives of State Security Services (SSS) in Benin.
The state command also arrested four University undergraduates, two of them in their final year for internet fraud related crime activities.
The suspected kidnappers and the internet fraud suspects are 8 in numbers paraded before Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State at the SSS command headquarters in Benin-City.
The State SSS Director, Mr. Bello Bakori who paraded the suspects said they all have confessed to the crime.
The SSS Director said three of the suspects were kidnappers while two of them kidnapped an American citizen, he said the other five were Internet Fraudsters whose stock-in-trade was to dupe unsuspecting members of the public through various scams.
Governor Oshiomhole who hailed the Security agency for tracking down the kidnap suspects assured the officers and men of the agency of government’s continued assistance in their fight against crime, kidnapping and other vices in the state.
He said the state government will continue to give all the support that the department needs to continue to do their best, adding that only God can compensate the men and officers who risk their lives working round the clock to make the state safe.
Oshiomhole however advised other young people to learn from this experience that crime does not pay.
