Enugu APC Sacks Party Chairman
The State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has announced the removal of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Dr Ben Nwoye.
The Assistant Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Chikwado Chukwunta along with 41 out of the 57 members of the SWC announced this while briefing newsmen in Enugu.
Chukwunta said that the decision was taken to save the party from further implosion considering the crisis which had torn the party into factions since 2015.
He said that both the State Executive Committee (SEC) and SWC had viewed with concerns the role of the ousted acting party chairman in the crisis rocking the party.
He said that the removal of Nwoye from office was in compliance with Article 21 (A) of the APC constitution which stipulated guidelines on how to remove such party officers.
Reacting to his alleged removal, the embattled caretaker committee Chairman claimed he remains the chairman until the ongoing party Congresses produces the substantive state exco.
The aftermath of the June 30th APC ward Congresses has divided the Enugu state caretaker committee exco, a Position that needs the intervention of the national working committee of the party to resolve.
