As Rivers state begins the first round of maternal birth week, the state health management board has tasked nursing mothers and pregnant women to participate actively in ending maternal death mortality in the state.

Health officials during a sensitization workshop in Port-Harcourt gathered to brainstorm on maternal newborn and child health in reaching out to women. 

Speaking at the forum, the director community health services and a focal person from the Rivers state health management board, stressed on the importance of the health week.

While sensitizing the people, the Rivers state director of health educator spoke on the health management board initiative.

The maternal newborn and child health week is a week set aside in Nigeria to give out package of services to mothers, children and newborn.
