2024 Budget : Senate Approves N549.6bn For NCC
The Nigerian Senate has approved the sum of N549.6 for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the 2024 fiscal year
This approval came following consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Communications during plenary on Thursday.
GALAXY TV reports that the Chairman of the Communications Committee, Senator Bilbis Aliyu while giving a breakdown of the Commission’s total expenditure for the year 2024, said that N155bn is for recurrent expenditure.
Similarly, the Red Chamber also approved the sum of N17 billion for the Universal Service Provision Fund for the 2024 fiscal year.
The approval came after consideration of the report of the Committee on Communications chaired by Senator Bilbis Aliyu.
Lawmakers like Senator Adeola Olamilekan who threw their weight behind the approval, argue that more funds should even be considered to augment the agency’s operations.
USPF is an agency under the Nigerian Communications Commission saddled with the responsibility of promoting widespread availability and usage of network services and applications services throughout Nigeria to institutions, unserved, under-served areas or for under-served groups within the communities in the country.
