0.5% Cyber Crime Levy: Reps Ask CBN To Halt Action.

The House of Representatives has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to halt the proposed implementation of the cybercrime levy of 0.5% on electronic transactions.

The lower chamber also directed the CBN to withdraw the ambiguous circular in existence and issue an unequivocal circular in line with the letters and spirit of the Cybercrimes (Amendment) Act, 2024.

The move followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance moved by the Minority Leader, Hon Kingsley Chinda

In another development, the house Urged president Bola Tinubu to use his office and direct relevant MDAs to come up with modalities for true negotiation with both the academic and non-academic unions to stop forthwith, any further strike action in the tertiary institutions

This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by Hon Abubakar Fulata.
