Delta Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers, Recovers Hundreds Of Ammunition
The police in Delta says it has arrested five suspected kidnappers terrorizing the Delta community of Ewu in Ughelli south local government area, as well as two suspects with nine hundred and thirty rounds of ammunition in Aboh town.
In a statement by the state police command spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to newsmen, said the suspects were arrested by a crack team of the Anti-crime patrol attached to the Ughelli Area command and the Aboh division.
According to the police, the operatives stormed the hideouts of the suspected kidnappers and arrested them through credible intelligence.
The sum of four hundred and fifty thousand naira which was part of the ransom money collected from one of their victims was recovered from the suspects, as well as one locally made double barrel gun and pistols.
A suspected stolen Toyota car and thirty eight rounds of AK 47 ammunition was also recovered during a search on the hideouts of the criminals according to the police.
The Delta police commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda reiterated the commands resolve to clamp down on criminal elements infiltrating the state from neighbouring Anambra state, while also promising not to relent in the fight against criminality.
