Following the lingering religious crisis in Iseyin, Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the commissioner of police in the state, Shina Olukolu has read riot acts to religious leaders in the town to ensure peace or face the wrath of the law.

Addressing traditional and religious leaders at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, Olukolu appealed to the stakeholders to walk in line with the undertaking for peace which they signed at the meeting.

He maintained that despite a subsisting court order, some Muslim youth and their counterpart from oro cult group continue to make life in conducive for the residents of the community.

Olukolu who read a riot act to the religious leaders in the town stressed that the state police command and other sister agencies would not hesitate to enforce appropriate sanction of the law on the area if the situation persists.

On his part, the special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on security matters, Fatai Owoseni and the Aseyin Of Iseyin land, Oba Abdulganiyu Adekunle Ologunebi sued for peace among religious leaders and their members in the community.

Some religious leaders at the meeting expressed appreciation about the initiative of the state police command and promised to ensure unity and peace in the town.

The religious leaders later signed undertaking for peace and unity in Iseyin community.
