Govt cleaners protest non-payment of salaries
Street sweepers attached to Edo state waste management board in Benin, the capital city of the state have protested the over the non- payment of six months salaries owed by the state government.
The group who said they were going through headship over non -payment of their salaries since October, said they were single parents and widows, appealed to the state government to heed their calls for prompt payment as it is their only means of survival.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Glory Omoregie said with their present challenges it has become difficult to feed and pay children's school fee and house rent.
Meanwhile, in his reaction, the chairman, waste management board, Akonofua said he was out of town and could not speak on the matter until he arrives.
