HERDSMEN KILLING: BENUE GOV DESCRIBES MASSACRE OF FARMERS IN OKPOKWU AS BABARIC
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has decribed as babaric, the gruesome killings of farmers in Igama, Edumoga, in Okpokwu local government area of the state by gun men suspected to be Fulani terrorists.
Governor Ortom who condemned the dastardly act, described the murderers as cowards and criminals who must be fished out and prosecuted.
The Benue state governor said the menace of killer herdsmen in the state, has gradually spread to all other parts of the country because the federal government has refused to act appropriately and decisively against them.
Governor Ortom therefore called on his people to stand up to defend themselves against the invaders as the laws of the land allows for self Defence.
The Governor said the peaceful attitude of Benue people who accommodates others should not be taken for granted, as the state is capable of defending itself.
Meanwhile, the Senator representing the zone, senator Abba Moro, who visited the attacked community condemned the killings and wanton destruction of properties of people who have lived peacefully with one another.
Senator Moro who described as unacceptable, called on the relevant security agents to go after the killers and their sponsors and bring them to book while sympathizing will the affected families and community, promises to work with relevant authority to ensure they are well taken care off at the temporary IDP camps.
