Humanitarian / Doctors without Border Exit Benue as GOV Applauds Legacy
Medecins San Frontiers, MSF, also known as "Doctors without Border" an emergency medical humanitarian organization which provided medical assistance to Benue people affected by conflict, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare is phasing out its services in Benue State.
The organization which launched emergency response in Benue State in 2018 is phasing out their activities with the hope to hand over their services to other actors as the acute emergency in the state has subsided.
The country representative of MSF in Nigeria, Dr. Simba Tarima, in its presentation, expressed joy that the dispensation of emergency and desperation is no longer the case with Benue State, Stating they were leaving because they came for emergency and now they feel Benue is no longer in emergency dispensation.
Governor, Hyacinth Alia who expressed appreciation for their contribution over the years in Benue State, noted that the efforts of MSF have saved lives, restored dignity, and brought hope to many stating that as they transit out, they should know that their legacy will endure and that the state is committed to building on the foundation they have laid.
