Authorities of Imo police command have come out to say that the radical approach deployed by them in combating crime and criminality in the state is beginning to yield the desired result as a lot of criminal hideouts have been busted and three fleeing inmates who escaped from the Nigeria correctional service have been arrested

The new public relations officer of the command SP Bala Elkana disclosed this in an interview with Galaxy television on Wednesday at the command's headquarters in Owerri.

While expressing confidence in the leadership quality of the current CP, the command's public relations officer said Imo state command has keyed in fully into the 'operation restore peace to southeast' as ordered by the inspector general police Ag. IGP Usman Baba.

Speaking further, SP Bala urged residents of the state to avoid the use of fireworks in ceremonies, especially at this critical time. He said the act on several occasions does create tension among the residents

He maintains that the current crop of officers and men starting from the commissioner of police to the least personnel were carefully selected and deployed to curb the insecurity issues in the state.
