Ogun parents laud removal of N3700 PTA levy
As students in both primary and secondary schools in Ogun state resume for the 2019/2020 academic year, some parents have lauded the suspension of the 3700 PTA Levy by the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
It would be recalled that the governor at a day stakeholder's forum on education over the weekend decried the public outcry the fee had generated; noting that his administration did not introduce it as it was a proposal by Parents Teachers Association accepted and implemented by the previous administration.
When Galaxy News monitored the resumption exercise, schoolchildren were visibly prepared for the business of the day.
For parents who took their wards to school, they said the PTA Levy suspension was a welcome development as it would further help to drive the education status of the state.
While monitoring the resumption exercise, the Special Adviser on Education to the Ogun State Governor, Ronke Soyombo, expressed satisfaction on the turnout of students to school.
