Trial of Yahaya Bello ongoing at FHC Abuja

The trial of the Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello commenced today before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The former Governor is present in court as the trial court is set to hear the suit on fraud allegations preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Security was beefed up within and around the federal High Court Abuja, as officers of the Nigeria Police Force and their Counterpart from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, manned strategic locations around the court.
GALAXY TV reports that Bello is facing a nineteen count charge bordering on fraud before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court. He was however granted bail to the tune of 500 million naira and two sureties in like sum.
The former Kogi governor is also facing a similar charge of 16 counts before the Federal Capital Territoy High Court.
He is also currently enjoying bail granted him by the trial judge, Justice Maryann Anenih to the tune of 500 million naira and three sureties in like sum.
At the commencement of the trial today, the Prosecution Counsel, Kemi Pinhero informed the court of the team's readiness for the trial adding that some of his witnesses are already in court.
On his part, Counsel to the Former Governor, AB Dawodu, equally expressed readiness for the trial stating that he has been served with the statements of some of the witnesses to be called by the Prosecution team.
As of the time of this report, the first witness, Segun Joseph Adeleke, from Efab Properties limited, is being interrogated by the Prosecution team.
