Police clampdown on scavengers occupying shanties in Delta
The police in Delta have commenced what it described as operation clampdown on miscreants terrorizing the state capital of Asaba metropolis and environs in their hideouts.
This is coming two days after protesting commercial motorcycle operators from the Northern extraction, embarked on a violent protest over the alleged killing of two of their members by the Delta task force.
Speaking on the exercise at the Asaba specialist hospital where some injured staff of the state government are receiving treatment after being attacked, the Delta police commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi said the IGP is against violent protest.
The secretary to the Delta state government also reassures the people of the state of the protection of lives and property.
