Police rescue two minors abducted in Zamfara
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the rescue of two children of a Zamfara State House of Assembly Lawmaker, Aminu Ardo who were abducted from Jangebe village, in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State in November 2022.
While handing over the children, Maryam, 10 and Nana Asma’u, 8, to their father at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, the inspector general of police ,Kayode Egbetokun said their rescue followed a combined effort of security agencies, with the coordination of the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA).
He further said the children were abducted with their mother and other siblings, but luckily, the mother escaped with the other children, leaving Maryam and Nana behind.
Speaking further, the police boss said under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu administration, there has been a robust focus on security reforms aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and responsiveness of the country’s security architecture.
The minor girls had been in captivity for 19 months before they were rescued by a Joint Task Force of security operatives a few days ago.
