The speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas, at the resumption of plenary Tuesday, says the 2024 budget will be passed on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

This was as he passed a message from the Committee on Appropriations to various committees of the House that they must conclude and submit their reports of the budget defence by agencies of government by 8 pm on December 19, 2023 and other budget-related activities like compilation, processing and harmonization would take place in between.

Recall that the House had suspended plenary on December 1, to conduct budget proposal defense towards speedy passage of the budget.

In another development chairman house committee on information, hon. Olusola Fatoba lamented on the low budget been Appropriated for the dissemination of information in the country, insisting that the amount must be increased if government is really serious in it quest to promote and increase it's national orientation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had in November, proposed a budget of N27.5 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year and the budget was presented to a joint session of the National Assembly for scrutiny and deliberations for final approval.
