Opposition parties protest INEC's attempt to disqualify candidates
A coalition of opposition political parties today blocked the entrance of INEC over alleged attempts to disqualify some of their candidates in the forthcoming Kogi and Bayelsa elections.
The angry protesters who displayed various placards to register their anger called on the electoral umpire to be fair and stop applying double standards in dealing with the various political parties.
During their outing in Abuja, supporters of the Social Democratic Party and the Young People's Party accused INEC of trying to frustrate attempts by the SDP to successfully substitute its Deputy Governorship candidate Yakubu Bashir with Khalid Adams.
Although none of INEC officials came out to address the protesters, they, however, resolved to remain at the entrance of the electoral umpire until it re-accommodates the disqualified candidates.
