FCT Police Command nabs dismissed Immigration Officers, arrests 300 Suspects

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a dismissed immigration officer attempting to sell advanced firearms to bandits operating in the Abuja-Kaduna forests.

The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Mustafa Mohammed, stated that the swift police action prevented the weapons from reaching criminal elements who could have used them for deadly attacks.

GALAXY TV reports that among the recovered weapons was a Scorpion CZ EVO3, an advanced, fully automatic firearm equipped with an inbuilt silencer.

Mohammed described it as the latest 2022 model in the Scorpion series, capable of operating in single, automatic, and burst-fire modes.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, disclosed that the Command arrested 300 suspects between January 1 and February 28, 2025, as part of intensified operations to combat crime in the territory.

He said the breakdown of arrests includes,59 Armed robbers,10 Kidnappers and their informants, 9 Neutralized armed robbers, 7 Neutralized kidnappers and 16 Cultists

He said in order to enhance security, the Command has been conducting targeted raids on identified criminal hideouts adding that tactical teams have been deployed to areas known for high criminal activity, including Dei-Dei, Karu, Gwarinpa, Jikwoyi, Karimo, and Maitama.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of FCT residents, promising that operations would continue until criminal elements are completely dismantled.
