FG vows to explore oil in Chad Basin
Federal government vows to continue oil exploration in Chad Basin despite recent Boko Haram attack on some of their staff.
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu gave this assurance in Abuja.
Dr Kachikwu said that oil search will continue when there is provision of adequate security for the exploration team.
The Minister Ibe Kachikwu at the beginning of the Press briefing sympathised with families of the victims of the Boko Haram attack.
Dr Kachikwu maintained that adequate security arrangement and security advice were obtained before embarking on the planned exploration trip.
Recall that Boko Haram members this week ambushed and kidnapped workers who were part of an NNPC team on oil exploration in the Lake Chad basin.
There are report that at least 27 people died after rescue efforts by soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, but the minister, stated that the number of casualty cannot be confirm, pending an official confirmation from the military.
