Power Supply Disrupted In Lagos, Oyo, Others After Damage To Three Towers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Friday that three transmission towers on the Ikeja West-Osogbo 330KV Line had been damaged, resulting in a 165 MW load loss.
According to a statement by TCN General Manager Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, approximately 14.9 km from the Ikeja-West Transmission Substation during windy rainfall.
Mbah noted that a thorough investigation had revealed that a trailer truck collided with detached conductors on Tower 527, causing extensive damage to Tower 528, which subsequently collapsed while the incident also affected Towers 526 and 524.
According to her, TCN Engineers are working to repair the damaged towers and restore normal bulk power supply to Ikeja, Eko, and Ibadan Distribution Companies (DISCOs).
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company supplies electricity to Oyo, Osun, Ogun, and Kwara states and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi states.
She noted that in the meantime, the 165 MW load loss had been diverted through other lines to minimise the impact on the affected DISCOs.
The GM reaffirmed TCN's commitment to providing efficient and reliable transmission of bulk electricity nationwide, appealing to Nigerians to show understanding with the company.
