Tinubu drums support for women in Nigeria

The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for more support for women in Nigeria for them to contribute meaningfully to National Growth and Development.
Speaking at the official opening of the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Inter-Club Championship, Organised by the Nigeria Customs Service, Tinubu described women as agent of development.
She highlighted Nigeria’s progress, particularly the significant strides made by women across various sectors under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
The First Lady encouraged all participants to approach both victory and defeat with grace and dignity, emphasizing that in the end, everyone is a winner for being part of the event.
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), praised the First Lady for accepting the role of Grand Patron.
He also acknowledged the pivotal support of the Nigeria Customs Service and the NSC in ensuring the smooth logistics of the tournament.
In his remarks, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, described the tournament as a remarkable event that has brought together many talented female athletes.
Also, Bouchra Hajij, President of the Confederation of African Volleyball, stated that the championship offers a valuable platform for the continent’s top clubs to compete.
Highpoint of the event was the official opening of the Tournament by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
