Training begins for oil clean-up monitors
As part of efforts to monitor the clean-up of Ogoni land and other areas affected by the oil spill, the Health of Mother Earth Foundation has gathered youths to educate them on how to become ecological defenders as the clean-up begins.
The group organized a two-day training following the resumption of the Ogoni land clean-up by the Federal Government and HYPREP to restore normalcy in the land.
Speaking on the training, the Director of the group Nnimmo Bassey says it is meant to equip and engage young people in the clean-up exercise as a resource person spoke on their preparedness.
Another resource person and a trainee spoke on the importance of monitoring and training of youths.
It will be recalled that the federal government had said it is committed to cleaning the environment with 21 contractors contracted for the exercise.
