There was panic in Ikere Ekiti on Thursday as report revealed that robbers notified residents of their intention to visit the town for the second time in one week.

Some armed robbers had on Monday evening stormed an old generation Bank in the town; they stole a huge amount of money and killed 4 people, including two Policemen.

The robbery incident that took place on Monday has heightened security patrol in Ekiti, particularly in Ado Ekiti the state capital where most of the banks are situated.

Robbers, who are still on the run, were said to have attacked the bank and a Police station simultaneously, killing two officers on duty.

The State Police commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu who spoke with newsmen in Ado Ekiti, said the command has a lead and they are working on the clues to unravel the incident that occurred in Ikere Ekiti.

He assured residents that there won’t be a repeat of such incident, as men and officers as well as other sister agencies have been drafted around the state.

Lakanu, who wondered why it was the same old generation bank that was constantly being robbed, said the command is not ruling out connivance in the robbery.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Ayo Fayose who also spoke with newsmen expressed concern with the current robbery attacks in the state. He described the recent robbery and killing as unfortunate and sad,
adding that they are already working to beef up security in the state.

It would be recalled that a branch of the same old generation bank was robbed last month at Ifaki Ekiti, in Ido/Osi Local government  area of the state.
