Fire Outbreak: Fire Razes Oba Market in Benin
Goods and properties worth millions of naira have been razed down by a fire outbreak at the popular Oba Market in Benin City.
The incidence was said to have started at about 3 am this morning which took many of the traders unawares.
Some of them who came later to rescue their items were seen around helpless as the fire had engulfed the entire complex barring access roads to their shops.
Officers and men of the State Fire Service who responded to the incidence were seen putting out the fire.
While the fire outbreak in Oba market is yet to be linked to any remote source, some have raised suspicion as this is not the first time it is happening.
The police is yet to brief on the matter but were seen around.
The fire incidence has raised concerns about the management of the market and the need for proper investigation.
