The Delta state police command says it has arrested two suspected kidnappers and four armed robbers at Orerokpe community, in Okpe local government area of the state.

 

The command in a statement by its spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to Galaxy news, said the suspects were responsible for the abduction of a man at Orerokpe and contacted the family for a ransom of five million naira.

 

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer mobilized his men as they combed bushes and streets which led to the release of the victim after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

 

Intelligence gathering later resulted to the arrest of the suspects who were all residents of Ughelli,as the victim identified two of the suspects.

 

Other suspects were also arrested in Asaba the Delta state capital in a hotel for their involvement in cultism and armed robbery.

 

Items recovered from them include two barretta pistols with two rounds of live ammunition, a locally made cut-to-size gun with one live cartridge.

 

The Delta police commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi warns that engaging in any form of criminality in Delta has a dire consequence, while instructing officers and men of the command to remain resolute in protecting lives and property.
