Senior staff association of Nigeria universities, SSANU and Non teaching staff of Nigeria universities, NASU have declared that no going back on the proposed 7day warning strike if the federal government failed to pay the outstanding withheld salaries of their members.

Speaking with Galaxy news, the acting chairman, SSANU, UNILAG council, Gbenga Adenaiya after a joint meeting of SSANU and NASU said the refusal of government to honour agreement reached on the payment of withheld salaries of members is unacceptable and the two unions are ready to embark on industrial action.

Speaking further, Comrade Adenaiya said though the plight of students who will be directly affected when their members down tool is of concern to them but the withheld salaries have really affected the finances of the staff in these caders and it is a clear injustice for government to pay withheld salaries of ASUU and refused to pay up that of SSANU and NASU.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to do the needful before Friday to avert the strike action which will no doubt have effect on the activities in various campuses.
